John began his career as a lab technician at the iconic fragrance house Dragoco, where he trained under several master perfumers. His early successes in fragrance creation led to a remarkable series of award-winning scents, establishing him as a leading talent in the industry.
Over his distinguished career, John has created fragrances across all categories, developing
scents for both celebrity and global brands, including Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Betsey
Johnson, Christina Aguilera, Calvin Klein, Bath & Body Works, Avon, Revlon, Natura, and
Elizabeth Arden. Today, he continues to innovate from Givaudan’s New York City office, crafting fragrances that inspire and captivate.
“John [Gamba] has not only created some of the most memorable fragrances of our time, but he has also mentored and inspired countless perfumers along the way,” said Roger Howell, President of the American Society of Perfumers. “It is an honor to recognize his extraordinary contributions with the Lifetime Achievement Award.”
The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes John’s outstanding contributions to perfumery,
celebrating his creativity, mentorship, and lasting impact on the industry. The award will be
presented during the World Perfumery Congress, the fragrance industry’s premier global
gathering, attended by perfumers, industry leaders, and fragrance enthusiasts from around the world.
